LG’s got a new ‘drod in the pipeline, and if the rumored specs are spot on, this might just be the smartphone that’ll dethrone the Galaxy S III as the top Android in the market today.
The LG Optimus G (E973) is what it’s called.
Compared to the Galaxy S III, this one runs on a 1.5GHz Qualcomm quad-core processor (vs 1.4GHz Exynos quad-core), 2GB of RAM (vs 1GB), sports a 13-megapixel camera (vs 8-megapixel), a 4.7-inch 1280×768 resolution HD Hybrid touchscreen, and probably the only thing it has in common with the S3, Ice Cream Sandwich as its OS.
But that last bit about its OS might change soon, though, since the unit pictured here is just a pre-production model. As such, there could be some changes along the way, and it might just get upgraded to Jelly Bean before everything’s all said and done. Emphasis on might.
That said, you can’t deny, its spec sheet is juicy enough as it is, with or without Jelly Bean, and it’s got the chops to really take on the Galaxy S III.
The LG Optimus G will reportedly be launched at IFA later this week. So expect to hear more about LG own superphone very very soon.
In the meantime, you can hop on over to AndroidMX (warning: Spanish site) for more leaked snapshots on LG’s new Optimus treat.
