Ok, I guess it was too presumptuous of me when I said everyone now has an Absinthe jailbreak to call their own when the Windows version was released. But now, I can safely say everyone’s got an Absinthe to call their own ‘cause Absinthe for Linux has also been rolled out, completing the circle of Absinthe jailbreak tools.
Just to recap, Absinthe is the newest jailbreak tool in town, and it’s mainly for the iPhone 4S and iPad 2. Absinthe can jailbreak iPhone 4S units running on either iOS 5 or iOS 5.0.1 but can only jailbreak iPad 2 units running on iOS 5.0.1.
How do you use it?
It’s as easy as 1-2-3:
- Run Absinthe, hook up your device, and hit the jailbreak button
- When done, launch the Absinthe app on your iOS device
- Once that’s complete, fire up Cydia, and that’s it!
Congratulations! You now have a jailbroken iPhone 4S/iPad 2.
For those who you want to jailbreak you’re A4-powere or older device (read: iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, 3G/4G iPod touch/iPad) running on iOS 5.0.1, take your pick from latest redsn0w, PwnageTool or Sn0wbreeze jailbreak.
