Heads up, Nikon users!
You may wanna check your DSLR’s battery ‘cause Nikon has just an issued a recall on a number of batteries due to overheating problems.
The battery being recalled is the EN-EL15 rechargeable Li-ion battery used on the Nikon D800, D800E, D7000 and Nikon 1 V1. Do note, however, that in the case of the D7000 and Nikon 1 V1, only those units bought on/after February 29, 2012 are affected by this known issue.
And only a specific set of batteries are covered by this recall and are eligible for replacement.
Head on over here for the complete details to know if your battery need replacing.
Not sure though how the replacement process will work for local users. My suggestion would be to get in touch with Columbia Digital, the official distributor of Nikon cameras here in the Philippines, to know just how you can get your battery replaced.
