It was back in August of last year when Alcatel debuted the Blaze 990 in the Philippines. During that time, it was their Android flagship handset, even though it only ran Froyo. They did promise, however, that a Gingerbread upgrade would follow soon. And thankfully, before Ice Cream Sandwich becomes the new mainstream Android version, that day has finally come.
Alcatel Blaze 990 owners rejoice! You can now upgrade your Alcatel ‘droid smartphone to Gingerbread standards.
Do note, though, this isn’t an OTA (over-the-air) upgrade. You’ll have to bring your Blaze 990 to an Alcatel service center to have it upgraded to Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
So now the question is, where are these Alcatel service centers located in the Philippines?
I checked out their website, and they have four centers listed there. Check ‘em out below:

Yeah, it’s a hassle you can’t upgrade it on your own, but hey, for what it’s worth, at least the promised Gingerbread upgrade here already.
