As I write this post, I struggle to try not to return to my open Google Chrome browser, where I’m currently playing Angry Birds.
No, it’s not a special program or app I downloaded to my Macbook Pro. It’s playing straight off the browser. And it doesn’t just work with Chrome, it also plays nice with Safari.
What’s the secret? HTML5 baby!
As long as your browser supports HTML5, which it should by now if it’s the latest version, it can play this web-based version of Rovio’s hit game.
Playing it right now on my Firefox. – Art
The game will take a minute or two (depending on your computer’s hardware and internet connection) to load the first time you play it, but don’t worry. Once it’s completed its initial loading, it’ll load much faster the next time around ‘coz when I say it loads, it actually downloads the entire game. Meaning, it’ll remember where you left off, and better, you can play it on Chrome even if you’re not connected to the net.
And unlike the one that’s available at the Mac App Store, this one’s completely free to play! Now that’s cool!
Good news for those who want to enjoy Angry Birds but don’t own a smartphone or don’t have their own PC to install it to. Bad news for those trying to kick the Angry Birds addiction.
So, enough of the small talk. Where exactly can you play this Angry Birds web app? Just visit chrome.angrybirds.com on your browser. Or if you’re using Chrome, install a shortcut from the Chrome Web Store.
Got it? Now back to my Angry Birds game.
