Oh yes! More Angry Birds news! I don’t remember a single mobile game that’s had this many incarnations. People are really milking it dry for all it’s worth. The game has now gone over and beyond technology. Has the world gone cuckoo? You tell me.
(Uh, if you wanted news about that Zamboanga psycho bird that attacks cops, this ain’t it. Head on over here instead.)
First hint of crazy things to come was a few weeks back in Guangzhou, China.  Someone actually made a live play Angry Birds game. The pigs are there. The birds are there. And you actually get to use a large slingshot to shoot with. No, don’t worry. The birds and pigs are simply plush dolls. No real animals were harmed in the creation of this game. As far as I know, it was a one time affair.
Or so I thought. Now toy maker Mattel will be coming out with their own version of Angry Birds too.
Introducing the Angry Birds Knock On Wood boardgame! You got the pigs. You got the birds. You got the catapult. You got building blocks which you set up to put the pigs in for target practice later. Finally, you got cards. Cards? Yes. More specifically they’re called “mission cards,” where each card tells you what to build for the next attack.
I’m looking at the pictures and I suddenly found myself creating a mental review of the game (for one thing, I don’t like the way they set up the slingshot). Would I want to play this game? Out of sheer curiosity, yes. Would I get addicted to it? Perhaps. But I might end up using the birds and slingshot to target other things. Hmm. What if I use those birds and make my own slingshot? I wonder if those birds are adequately weighted? I wonder how pointy that beak is?
Mattel plans to release the game worldwide this May 2011. Maybe we’ll see it in Toy Kingdom! Then again, are you willing to pay US$14.99 (~670 pesos) for this thing?
