If you love the “found footage” horror genre, popularized by “The Blair Witch Project” and taken to a higher level by “Paranormal Activity,” then you’re gonna love Apollo 18.

It’s found footage. By NASA. On the moon. This is apparently what happens when a super secret NASA mission to the moon ends up uncovering some horrible alien species or disease or both. It’s a premise that’s been done already fairly recently (thank you, Transformers), but turning it into a horror flick is delicious. Especially when it’s woven into historical context (“The footage reveals why mankind never returned to the moon”).

Oh, and turns out the Soviets have gone to the moon too (1:17). Here’s the trailer:

The film is out in the US this Friday. I hope it reaches us too. I love a good scare.
