Was the 1 million iPhone 4S pre-orders in one day a fluke? Not by a mile as Apple now proudly reports they managed to sell over 4 million iPhone 4S units during its first weekend, shattering the previous record set by the iPhone 4.
I guess this pretty much answers the question of whether the iPhone 4S, with its meager hardware upgrades, will sell like hot pancakes or not. It’s either people really have the hots for the iPhone 4S, or they just want a piece of history knowing this is the last iPhone launched while Steve Jobs was alive.
Anyway, I guess that’s beside the point already. The important thing here, at least for Apple, is the iPhone 4S is a hit, and if this trend continues, it’ll definitely be setting up the bar quite high for its successor.
The iPhone 4S is out now in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, UK, and Japan, with 22 more countries joining the elite group on October 28 and 70 more by the end of the year. We’re still not sure if we’re lucky enough to be included in third batch of countries that’ll be getting the iPhone 4S this year, but we’re sure hoping we are.
For those who can’t wait and want to be part of the growing statistic, you can ring up your relatives/friends in the US as unlocked iPhone 4S units are already available at select Apple stores. Or you could wait for it to arrive in Singapore on October 28 and just get it from there, which has been the practice of many since the iPhone is retailing at a ridiculously high price locally.
