Asus MeMo Pad serves up Jelly Bean goodness for less than Php7K

Yep, the Asus MeMo Pad we talked about last month is now finally available in the Philippines.

And better, it’s retailing just a tad bit higher than what we were expecting. So, how much exactly is the Asus MeMo Pad going for?

It’s selling for just Php6,995.

The Asus MeMo Pad is definitely a tempting buy, but if you can afford and have the patience to save up a little more, I’d suggest you just go for the Nexus 7. Yes, it’s pricier – nearly twice the price, to be exact – but it’s also better almost across the board.

For the benefit of those who missed our previous post on the MeMo Pad, this 7-incher runs on a 1Gz Via processor, with 512MB RAM, a 1-megapixel cam on the front, none at the back, 8GB onboard storage (expandable via microSD card), and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean right off the bat.

So, how about it, guys? Buy or pass?

I bought one last night on a semi-whim. Hee. (Happy Birthday to me!) It gets a teeny bit slow if you don’t have an app killer/memory manager, but otherwise it does a decent job of serving up media and net access, which is what I use my gadgets for most of the time. I do miss the ease of using Bluetooth to transfer files between devices, though. :)
