Huawei is actually one of the world’s largest mobile phone makers (thank you, China and your enormous population). But it hasn’t exactly had a reputation for being an upscale brand. More often, Huawei is associated with affordability and low-cost devices.
Perhaps not anymore. In a few hours, Huawei will be launching its Huawei Ascend P6 at a grand event in London, in a glitz-and-glamor...
06 17 2013 ... And now, ladies and gentlemen, a serious note.
Last year, Technoodling won for Tech Junkie of the Year at the 2012 Globe Tatt Awards. It was a heady moment for us, and we have nothing but thanks to all our readers, fans, supporters and voters for making it happen.
Well now the 2013 Globe Tatt Awards are in full swing and, as you know, we were nominated once again for Best Tech Blog or Podcast. Once again, it had the ...
06 17 2013 ... It’s a beeeyooootiful Monday morning. Let’s begin it with a fascinating tale about… SSD drives.
SSD stands for solid state drives. They were heralded as the replacement for the nearly 60 year old hard disc drive technology and are better in so many ways, primary for which is speed of access and shrinkability (because it’s all electronic, versus the spinning disk in a hard drive).
Well now, the...
06 15 2013 ... Who best to be your source for leaks than the accessory makers? After all, Apple in particular gives them sneak peeks of upcoming products so that they can design bumpers, cases and protectors for it in time for its eventual release.
So accessory-maker Tactus was the one to leak an image of the “possible” (and now practically certain) low-cost iPhone that is to come out at the end of the year.
It’s ...
06 11 2013 ... Have you used Waze yet?
If not, here’s good reason for you to finally try it: it’s so good that two tech titans were fighting over who gets to own it. Facebook was the first rumored to be wanting it for a billion dollars (“You know what’s cool? A billion dollars!” allegedly said Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg in that iconic movie).
Not to be outdone, Google eventually jumped in as well...
06 07 2013 ... The US International Trade Commission has just banned some Apple products from being imported into the US from their manufacturing hub in China.
The products: the iPhone 4 (AT&T version), and the iPad 2 with AT&T modem.
The reason: <raise your fist and yell to the skies) SAMSUUUUUNG!!!!
Apparently, these older Apple products use modem technology with patents that belongs to Samsung, and the Trade Commissio...
06 05 2013 ... Intel has been in a slump lately. I bet it blames Windows for much of this. The so-called WinTel alliance has suffered severely due to Microsoft’s inability to come up with a killer tablet, in a world where tablet sales are eating PC share. At least you can imagine that to be Intel’s spin on things.
Intel: Dude, you seriously, seriously have to make your tablets happen. We’re dying here!
Microsoft: ...
06 05 2013 ... No it’s not the thinnest laptop, but it certainly is the thinnest gaming laptop.
The Razer Blade has just been outed as the world’s thinnest gaming laptop, with a thickness of just 0.66 inches and a gamer-fanboy-pleasing sleek matte black chassis. It’s a really good looking laptop, unlike those hideously clunky Alienware gaming laptops of yore.
The specs are wicked. Heck, in fact, if ever you want t...
06 03 2013 ... The leaks are out! And what they say are that Samsung is expanding its S4 line by introducing two new variants. This is fresh on the heels of Samsung’s having released the Galaxy S4 Mini just a few days ago.
The two purported new S4 variants are:
Galaxy S4 Active. For the hyperactive users who do sports and all that. This will be a ruggedized variant of the S4, now made water resistant and shock resistant. It ...
06 03 2013 ... Apple may not be commenting, but it’s practically a given already that a cheaper iPhone is going to show up later this year:
First, there’s the news that Apple is skirting old reliable Foxconn as a manufacturing partner and instead is getting Pegatron — a much tinier business that seems to be happier with lower profit margins, making it perfect for a potential low-priced product offering.
Second, an...
06 03 2013 ... Jason,
With the TV season done and over with, it was time to say farewell to Arrow, CSI, Modern Family, The Simpsons and whatever else weeklies people have kept track of. Fortunately, life still goes on for cable shows such as Game of Thrones and Mad Men. And by next month Dexter is back!
So okay, what else is showing? Here are a few must-sees that I’ve stumbled upon.
Hannibal. This new NBC series is bold and ...
05 31 2013 ... Let’s be very candid here. People hate Windows 8. It’s a touch-OS wannabe that pretends to be all that but is actually a confusing experience for millions of Windows users the world over. Unfortunately, if you’re buying a new PC these days, it’s gonna come with Windows 8, even if you desperately want to stay with Windows 7.
(And let’s be very candid here again: this is part of the re...
