But if this is true, it makes sense because Apple wants to eat up the lower-priced tablet market in time for Christmas.

The latest rumor: Apple is setting a special launch event for next Wednesday, October 17, for its iPad mini (or whatever its name is set to be). And the invites are due to be sent out as early as tomorrow!

This latest rumor comes courtesy of Fortune.com, and is supposedly coming straight from a big Apple investor.

We’ve all but confirmed it, and we even have suggested a strategic price point for it.

So now we wait. But it’s getting to look clearer and clearer that the iPad mini, the 7.85″ little sibling of the iPad, is in fact coming out soon.
