Capdase DuoFrame Bumper for iPhone 4S review

The problem with putting the iPhone inside a protective case is that the additional girth and thickness negates and covers up the slick and thin design that Apple has painstakingly put together. It’s just the nature of the beast. Want to protect your iPhone? Put it inside a couple of layers of cushion. In trying to solve this predicament, Capdase has come out with the DuoFrame Bumper; a two piece, snap-on case that offers a little bit of protection without adding any thickness to the iPhone.

Inside the package: The DuoFrame Aluminum Bumper, Screen guard (Front and Back) and rubber stoppers for the earphone jack and charging port

Similar to the rubber bumper case that Apple created for the iPhone 4, the Capdase DuoFrame offers a similar level of protection only this time, the bumpers in question is now  completely made of aluminum. The Capdase DuoFrame covers the sides of the iPhone, with precise cut outs allowing access to the power button, earphone jack, mute switch, SIM card tray and volume control.  Capdase even had the mindset to carve out holes on both of the speakers of the iPhone 4S.

Unfotunately, due to the nature of the DuoFrame Bumper, the whole backside of the iPhone 4S is left exposed. Fortunately, a pair of screen protectors is included in the package which can be applied to the front and back of the iPhone from scratch protection. A couple of rubber protectors is also included to plug the earphone jack and the charging/sync port.

The Capdase DuoFrame Bumper looks seamless on the iPhone 4S

Bottomline:
Capdase’s DuoFrame Bumper looks mighty slick, it offers protection to the sides of the iPhone but leaves little to no protection to the glass-made back-side of the iPhone 4S. People who wants a bit of protection without sacrificing the thickness of their iPhone will find a lot to like about the DuoFrame Bumper. For me, the major shortcoming of the DuoFrame Bumper is not its lack of protection but exorbitant price it carries. Even with a free pair of screen protectors and rubber stoppers, its SRP of Php 2,450 is a bit hard to swallow.

Still priced lower than ElementCase products. Does the signal drop when you use this?

    • @bad_boy nope, didn’t have any signal problems while I was using this case
