Cherry Mobile debuts most Affordable Android handsets in the Philippines: Candy, Candy Ch@t
Aside from the Cherry Pad, Cherry Mobile also unveiled their cheapest Android offerings to date – the Cherry Mobile Candy and Cherry Mobile Candy Ch@t.
The Cherry Mobile Candy sports a 2.8-inch resistive touchscreen, a 1.3-megapixel camera, WiFi, Bluetooth, dual-SIM support, Android Froyo 2.2 as its OS, powered by 416MHz processor with 128MB RAM. Less than stellar specs, but that’s prolly why it’s retailing for just Php3,699.
The Cherry Mobile Candy Ch@t, meanwhile, retails at the same price, and is more or less the QWERTY-equipped twin of the Candy. Its specs are almost identical to the Candy, but comes with more ROM (512MB vs 256MB on the Candy) and an understandably smaller touchscreen (2.4-inch) as a result of the added QWERTY keypad.
These new Cherry Mobile treats definitely aren’t for the hardcore techies out there looking for the fastest and most powerful ‘droids in the market today. You’re better off with the Samsung Galaxy S II or some other dual-core Android smartphone out now.
But if you’re working on a strictly limited budget and want to have a taste of some Android goodness, then these two might just be the answer to your prayers.
