Cherry Mobile’s new phones: An affordable Android, A Quad-SIM, and a Transformer

After the launch of their first-ever rugged phones, the R7 and R9, Cherry Mobile is set to further foritfy their handset line-up with a bunch of other firsts in the Philippine market.

SRP: Php3,499.00

First up is the Q70 Quad. If others have begun offering triple-SIM phones, Cherry Mobile’s upping the ante with Q70 as this is the country’s first and only quad-SIM phone. Who actually maintains 4 lines, beats me, but for those who do, this is the answer to your prayers. Apart from quad-SIM support, the Q70 also comes packed with a 2-megapixel rear camera, a front-facing one, Mobile TV with recording, and Bluetooth connectivity.

SRP: Php4,999.00

Next, we have the Eclipse 2.2. This one’s perfect for those who want an Android phone, but are a bit strapped for cash. This dual-SIM phone runs on Android 2.2 Froyo, and sports a 3.2-inch touchscreen with 512MB ROM and 256MB RAM. The Eclipse 2.2 also comes equipped with a 2-megapixel cam, GPS, Bluetooth, and WiFI connectivity. Correct me if I’m wrong, but this has got to be the first Android phone to break the Php5K mark.

SRP: Php3,499.00

The Cherry Mobile W1, meanwhile, is yet another touchscreen dual-SIM phone, though isn’t an Android device. This sports a 3-megapixel camera, WiFi connectivity, and comes preloaded with Opera Mobile 10.0, just the app the doctor recommends for on-the-go web surfing on your phone.

SRP: Php2,899.00

And last, but definitely not the least, there’s the Cherry Mobile X1 Morph, or what I’d like to call the transformer phone. This dual-SIM phone’s claim-to-fame is it can easily transform from a seemingly typical candy bar handset to a more compact alphanumeric keypad-less touchscreen phone. Cool, right? As for its specs, it’s got a 2-MP camera, Bluetooth, FM radio, and can support memory cards of up to 4GB in capacity.

All these will be released within the month.

With these new offerings, Cherry Mobile is definitely marking their stamp in the entry-level segment of the local mobile phone market. Now who says you can’t do much when it comes to budget-friendly phones?
