Cisco outs App Enabled Linksys EA series smart routers in the Philippines
Cisco’s just launched a brand new set of Linksys dual-band routers in the Philippines, and though they may look like a spitting image of the ones we’ve seen in the market, don’t be fooled. These bad boys have an ace up their sleeves.
It’s called Cisco Connect Cloud. Yay, another Cloud service. Groan. But again, don’t be fooled. It’s not what you think it is. Connect Cloud is actually Cisco’s latest innovation that’ll let you manage your Cisco router via an app on your iOS or Android phone, whether you’re at home or in someone else’s home halfway across the globe, so you can do more with it.
Here’s a rundown of the current Connect Cloud apps out now and what they have to offer:
| Block the Bad Stuff | Block the Bad Stuff brings safe web surfing to Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers in an easy way. Protect all users and devices from accessing content from security vulnerable sites, adult content and other non-family friendly sites. | iOS |
| HipPlay | HipPlay allows users to play, beam, share photos, music, videos on their phone, tablet, PC, Mac or TV when they want, where they want. | iOS |
| Twonky Video | Twonky Video is a mobile browser for smartphones and tablets to browse online video services and “beam” them to your Smart TV or AirPlay devices. | Android / iOS |
| Netproofer | Netproofer helps parents restrict access to specific websites for all users or per specific device. | Android |
Free? Some, but not all. Also note, not all are available in the Philippines App Store/Google Play store.
