Confirmed: Samsung Galaxy Nexus coming to the Philippines

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is the world’s first Ice Cream Sandwich powered handset, and soon, it might also be the first carrier-free Nexus phone to be released in the Philippines.

How do we know this?

Well, it’s actually thanks to our fave social network, Facebook. Samsung Mobile Philippines last week uploaded a photo of the newest Nexus phone to their Facebook page, and teased everyone it’s coming soon to the Philippines. Now, if this were to be an exclusive device to one of the big three…er…big two – SMART or Globe – then this Galaxy Nexus teaser would have been uploaded to either Globe or SMART’s Facebook page.

That, or there would have been at least a line stating that it’s coming to their of the two local carriers.

But don’t quote us on this yet. We could be wrong on this one, though we’ve got a good feeling about the Galaxy Nexus going down the carrier-free route.

No date yet on when it’ll officially hit local stores, but news that it’s coming to the Philippines is good enough for now.

I want this phone, real bad. At least you’re pretty sure that it’ll be unlocked, no matter what carrier offers it ;)
