Yet another company taking advantage of most gadget manufacturers aural shortcomings is Divoom, who’s come out with a couple of external speaker solutions for your aurally-challenged devices.
Divoom’s iTour Omni and iTour Wow are basically the same gadget in different dressing. They’re both wireless external speakers with rechargeable batteries that charge off the USB port of your computer, both are able to automatically read off the airwave frequencies to play FM radio via a wonderfully sensitive tuner, both are able to read music off SD cards or USB flash drives, both able to connect via an auxiliary cable to your device’s 3.5mm port to play music, both have headphone ports, and both are eminently portable little devices.
Their differences are minor: the Omni has a TransFlash/micro-SD port and a USB flash drive port while the Wow has just an SD port, the placement of the switches and ports are on different locations, and their basic shapes are different. The Omni is a straight, rectangular box-like little thing outfitted with a handle on one end they call a carabiner clasp that you can clip to your bag while listening, while the Wow is more oblong and pointy at the end (more style than anything, I guess) and doesn’t have a clasp.
Both boast Passive-Oscillation Bass Technology, which allow the devices to deliver great big booming bass, despite their small size. The audio from both is surprising adequate, although they have a tendency to vibrate and distort at the highest volume levels, and the FM feeds are likely to distort at the higher end as well. But for most modest uses, the iTours are great, and function well as a personal speaker system.
The batteries takes about four hours to recharge via USB (two and a half hours by DC), and run for about six to seven hours long, depending on use. You can use them stand alone as a FM radio receiver, or use them to play music off your TF, USB or SD cards, or hook them up to your phone or computer as an external speaker setup. The two devices are so portable you can just slip them into your bag and forget about them, and just bring them out for when the need arises.
The iTour Omni comes in silver, blue, black or red, while the iTour Wow comes in many more colors to suit your tastes.
