Facebook v2.0 for BlackBerry smartphones, BlackBerry Playbook now Available
Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones and the BlackBerry Playbook has just been updated to v2.0. Facebook for BlackBerry v2.0 comes packed with an easier-to-use new UI, always on Facebook Chat, improved News Feed, deeper integration with BlackBerry Native Apps, and enhanced Profiles.
Here’s a short video discussing and showing off these and the other new treats Facebook for BlackBerry v2.0 has to offer as demoed on the yet-to-be-released BlackBerry Bold 9900:
Admittedly, most of these features have been available on the Facebook app for other mobile platforms. So this much-needed update for the BlackBerry OS should, at the very least, help keep it in-step with the rest of the pack.
But there’s one thing RIM has that their rivals doesn’t, and that’ a tablet-optimized Facebook app.
With Facebook v2.0, BlackBerry Playbook users can now take advantage of Facebook Places to share their location, view events and receive notifications for upcoming ones, view ‘likes’, and toggle the privacy settings for status updates.
Here’s a video of Facebook for BlackBerry Playbook v2.0 in action:
Yeah, we’ve been hearing of an iPad Facebook app being in the works for weeks now. Heck, we’ve even see screenshots of it, and there’s apparently a way to access it already. But at the end of the day, it’s still not out yet.
So, for what it’s worth, RIM can still hold on to the title of being the lone tablet maker with a tablet-optimized Facebook app to offer up users.
If you still haven’t download the Facebook for BlackBerry app to your RIM smartphone yet, then head on over here to get it. BlackBerry Playbook users, meanwhile, can click here to get their fair share of Facebook goodness on their RIM tablet.
