Quick question – can you play Facebook game CityVille on the iPad?
Quick answer – no. Even though Facebook looks as good and functions almost the same on the iPad as the desktop version, Facebook games aren’t supported via Safari since Apple has opted not to adopt Flash on their mobile OS.
But there is a work around for this via an app – GameBox for Facebook – which sole purpose is to allow iPad users to enjoy Facebook games on Apple’s hit iOS tablet.
Wait, Flash isn’t supported on the iOS platform, so how does this work? Everything’s done in the cloud so the GameBox for Facebook app basically just serves as your doorway to the service. That’s the good bit.
The bad news is only two Facebook games are supported: Zynga’s CityVille and Digital Chocolate’s Army Attack. They do promise, though, they’ll be adding “new games regularly.” How regularly – once a week, once a month, or God forbid, once a year – we don’t know, and that’s the scary part.
So, I’m pretty sure you’ll all agree with me that it’s best to just wait for these other Facebook games to arrive before deciding on whether it’s a good idea to get this app or not, especially since this isn’t free to download.
GameBox for Facebook is readily available at the App Store with a retail price of $2.99. That’s a shade under Php130 based on existing exchange rates.
Oh, and if you’re still interested in trying this out, do note that this isn’t available in the Philippines App Store.
