Globe Telecom has announced that its social media campaign for the GCASH American Express Virtual Pay has triumphed in the Social Media Programs category of the prestigious 2013 Gold Quill Award. Nearly 800 entries from firms and communications agencies from around the world were submitted to this year’s competition. The winners were awarded last June 24, 2013 at the IABC 2013 World Conference in New York City.
The award was conferred in recognition of the GCASH American Express Virtual Pay Black Friday social media campaign, which generated more than four million impressions on Twitter, more than Php80 million worth of online media mileage, and, for the first time, 100 percent positive social media feedback for Globe back in November 2012. Additionally, the hashtags #GlobeBlackFriday and #GCASH also became trending tags in both the Philippines and Singapore.
Paolo Baltao, president of GCASH operator G-Xchange Inc, says that Globe leveraged on the popularity of the Black Friday Sale in the USA to make their own big online sale here in the Philippines. ”With the campaign, we generated buzz on Twitter and made it one of the most-talked about events in the Philippines as well as in Singapore. We would like to thank the IABC for having recognized our efforts to launch an international event locally while harnessing the power of social media. ”
The GCASH American Express Virtual Pay allows GCASH users to shop at both local and international sites that accept American Express cards, as well as to have physical goods purchased delivered to their doorsteps at affordable rates and without needing to be concerned with importation duties and other extra fees.
