Google Drive on both iOS and Android just got an update, and for those of you who’ve been itching to get more work done via Drive while on the go, this is the one you’ve long been waiting for.
Google Drive now allows you to do more than just view your files in the Google cloud. In its latest iteration, you can now create folders, move and upload items to folders, delete and removes files, and edit Google documents too, all via the Google Drive mobile app.
Here’s the rundown of the complete set of new features in Google Drive for iOS:
- Edit Google documents with formatting and collaboration
- Edits to your Google documents appear to collaborators in seconds
- Richer Google presentations with animations and speaker notes
- Create a new folder or Google document
- Upload photos and videos from your device or a photo directly from your camera
- Move an item to a folder in your Drive
- Delete and remove files from your Drive
- Drive is now available in over 30 languages
On the other side of the mobile OS fence, here’s what’s new in Google Drive for Android:
1. Create folder, upload to folder and move to folder
2. Filter folder contents by file type
3. Option to auto-sync pinned content while on 3G
4. Richer Google Presentations viewing experience
5. Basic table support in Documents Editor
6. Create, reply and resolve comments in Documents Editor
7. View and change fonts in Documents Editor
8. Pinch to zoom in Documents Editor
9. Print files using Google Cloud Print
10. Option to resume interrupted uploads
Just note the fine print here, the only documents you can edit on the fly are Google documents. Not MS Word or any other documents. Only Google documents.
