Will Google or won’t Google be releasing a tablet?
Well, we’ve got until July to find out, the rumored month when the said tablet will be released.
And if what The Verge reports also proves to be true, it’ll be coming from none other than the folks that gave us the Transformer Prime – Asus.
Unofficial specs of Google’s anticipated first tablet include a Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 7-inch display and, of course, Android Ice Cream Sandwich as its OS. It’ll reportedly be a WiFi only model, with pricing yet to be finalized. As of now, though, it’s said to cost $249, although they are still trying to find ways to lower this so that it’ll compete nicely with Amazon’s sub-$200 Kindle Fire “Android” tablet.
That’s a lot of ifs to work with right now, but hey, it’s painting a pretty good picture. Bottom line: looks like we’ll be getting a decent tablet at a very low price point.
We’re just hoping, for their sake, that they finish their masterpiece before Apple does theirs and releases yet another smashing hit new iPad.
We love tablets. You bet there’ll be more on this as it unfolds.
