Infinity Blade dethrones Cut the Rope as Fastest Selling App to reach $3 million
With its stunning graphics, Epic’s Infinity Blade iOS game is truly something to behold. But it’s more than just eye candy. In fact, based on Pocket Gamer’s calculations, Infinity Blade has just become the fastest selling game at the App Store to reach the $3 million mark.
Epic has yet to make public the exact sales figures of their hit iOS game, but with the help of a couple of clues — $5.99 (price of Infinity Blade) x 591,728 (Game Center registrations for Infinity Blade) –- we now know that Infinity Blade has more than eclipsed $3 million worth of sales. That’s a total of $3,544,450.72 in App Store sales for Infinity Blade, with roughly $2.5 million going to Epic’s pockets. And this is still a conservative figure given that not all Infinity Blade players register via Game Center.
Prior to Epic’s hit offering, the fastest selling app to reach $3 million in sales was Cut the Rope, which took six weeks to achieve this feat. Infinity Blade has yet to celebrate its 4th week at the App Store, clearly making minced meat of the record set by Zeptolab/Chillingo’s app offering.
While this may mean very little for us consumers, this just goes to show how lucrative the mobile app business is these days. If you strike it big, just like Epic did with Infinitiy Blade, you could easily bag yourself $3 million in less than a month.
And yes, the chances of scoring a hit mobile app is definitely much higher than winning in the local Lotto.

Wow, this game should really be good!
Is there a light version that we can try first?
saw this and i would say it’s pretty sweet. it’s just too bad this wont get ported to Android devices any time soon.
$3 million in less than a month… wow! that’s huge indeed. Got to share this news with my brother. he loves games like this. Once upon a time. I tried to play those ancient PC games — kenjie’s journey… and… (blush, blush) bookworm adventures hehe. haven’t tried playing any mobile games yet.
i never thought that games with this kind of graphics exist in cellphones
aye to the graphics. nay to non iOS versions. lukewarm on the hit app-lotto ratio.
the app is 300+MB! hehehe
congrats to the guys from epic. good game, repetitive though.
300+ MB! Gaaah. Seems to heavy for a phone app, tho graphics look stunning.
I love this game, I already have all the items and have reached the current max level of 45. Opo, addict ako….
nice… 3 mil in less than a month? hmm… maybe i should try making an iOS game lol
This game is all about modified grinding, if I remember right. Still, at least the graphics are great.
