Instagram officially dropped their exclusivity cloak this year when they finally became available on Android. And now, it appears that Instagram will soon be available on a third mobile platform, namely Windows Phone.
This is still pretty sketchy though.
According to The Verge, their sources gave them the heads up that an Instagram app for Windows Phone is in the offing. They later on updated the post revealing that, based on “sources familiar with the situation“, Instagram has no plans of “investing its own resources” to the creation of such an app.
But they did raise an important point, the Facebook and Twitter apps available on Windows Phone didn’t come from Facebook or Twitter. Both apps were developed by Microsoft. So Microsoft creating an Instagram app is entirely possible, especially if the demand is there.
It’s not a yes, and definitely not a no yet for Instagram for Windows Phone. For now, I’ll call it maybe.
More on this, hopefully, soon.
