Ricky Banaag retires, Calum Chisholm takes overIntel today announced that its country manager for the Philippines, Ricardo Banaag, has elected to take early retirement effective April 2013. Banaag will be ending a 16-year career with Intel by the time he leaves office. Also announced was the appointment of Calum Chisholm to the role of country manager.
âRicky has done a great job as Intelâs country manager and will leave our business in the Philippines in a strong position. The Philippines continues to be one of Intelâs key growth opportunities in Asia Pacific and globally. Rickyâs contributions to our future success will be missed,â said Uday Marty, Managing Director, SE Asia. âAt the same time, I am very pleased to welcome Calum to the role. I have great confidence in his ability to maintain strong performance in this vital market.â
With over three decades of experience in the IT industry, Banaag has had a depth of company experience in developing the PC industry in the Philippines. Under his direction, Intel launched flagship Intel-powered products and devices, including the industry game-changer CentrinoÂŽ Wireless, tremendously popular Atom⢠netbooks and the latest Ultrabook⢠convertibles running on the Core processor family. Banaag has also led Intel to reach previously untapped markets and establish a strong presence in provincial areas. He is also responsible for expanding Intelâs strong ecosystem of distributors, channel partners and multi-national OEMs during his tenure.
Chisholm will take over Intel Philippinesâ Sales and Marketing operations in Banaagâs stead. Previously an Intel OEM Global Marketing Manager, Chisholm was responsible for creating and driving breakthrough marketing strategies that showcase Intel technology and brand value within OEM solutions. No stranger to the Philippines, Chisholm took on the role of temporary country manager as part of Intelâs unique rotation program in 2011. For three months, he handled the Philippine market and had the opportunity to work with Intelâs customers, partners and consumers in press.
Chisholm joined Intel Corporation as Product Marketing Engineer in 1996, and has since worked across Europe, Africa and Asia on the OEM business. Currently based in Thailand, where he has lived for 9 years, Chisholm and his family will relocate to the Philippines. A native of Great Britain, he holds a First Class Bachelor of Science Honors Degree in International Business Information Technology from the University of Teesside.
