iOS 4.2 now Available; Intros AirPlay, AirPrint on the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad
It might have taken Apple a little longer than expected but, thankfully, the wait is finally over. iOS 4.2 is now available for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
Thanks to this latest firmware, iPad users can now enjoy multitasking, a unified inbox, movie rentals via the iTunes app, and the use of folders to organize their apps.
iOS 4.2 also intros two new features that everyone can enjoy (well, not exactly everyone…just those with a compatible iOS 4.2 device) – AirPlay and AirPrint. Airplay, as its name suggests, allows you to stream music, videos, and photos wirelessly to the new Apple TV. AirPrint, meanwhile, gives users the option to print wirelessly via WiFi to a compatible printer direct from their iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad.
To download, just launch iTune 10.1 and plug-in your iOS device. iOS 4.2 is compatible with the iPhone 4, iPhone 3G S, iPhone 3G, 2G/3G/4G iPod Touch , and the iPad. Feature availability, though, will vary depending on the device.

Two software updates have been released for the iPad and it is still unavailable locally. When will the local Apple people get their thumbs off their collective @sses and work on releasing it on the Philippine shores? Will the local Apple Resellers still be able to sell any unit once they do decide to release it? The people who wants one already bought their units overseas (or at greenhills) so who will be left to buy them in the local stores? *sigh*
I’m not exactly surprised Apple is taking their sweet time in releasing the iPad locally. Just look at how long it took them to get the iPhone released locally through officially channels. At this rate, my guess is they’ll forego the launch of the 1G iPad and just release officially release the 2G iPad locally next year.
Apple surely wants there IPADS be as close as functional with Personal Computers. I would not surprised in the future if this tabs gadgets would replace personal computers. what kind of printer does supports this Airprint capability?
