Well, well, well. The jailbreak-boys are at it again. iOS 5 hasn’t officially been released yet, and they’ve jailbroken it already.
iPhone Dev Team member MuscleNerd posted these teaser pics of a jailbroken 4G iPod touch running on iOS 5 over on Twitter to whet everyone’s appetite. Limera1n was used here, and as most early jailbreaks go, it’s tethered.
It’s yet to be proven, though, if it’s possible to jailbreak iOS 5 on the iPhone 4 and iPad, and more importantly, if they can come up with an untethered iOS 5 jailbreak solution (heck, there’s no untethered jailbreak yet for the iPad 2). Nonetheless, this early attempt to jallbreak iOS 5, and a successful one at that, should be good news for jailbreak loyalists, especially 4G iPod touch users.
iOS 5 is scheduled to be released sometime in the fall (that begins in September), after which, if everything goes according plan, this new jailbreak should follow suit.
