iPad 2 launching in Hong Kong, Singapore in April

Apple has reassured everyone via a press release that the iPad 2 will be debuting in 25 more countries this Friday, March 25th.

More importantly, especially for us here in the Philippines, they also announced in the same press release that the iPad 2 will be coming to Singapore and Hong Kong this April. They didn’t go as far as to mention a specific date, but news of it being launching in the two fav destinations of Pinoys for gadget goodies should be good enough on its own.

So, I guess the days of the $1,400 iPad 2 in Hong Kong are now numbered, and we can also look forward to cheaper iPad 2 prices in the grey market in the near future as peddlers can now source it from neighboring countries.

Still no word yet on when it’ll hit the Philippines, but they did go on to say that additional countries will also be getting the iPad 2 in April, and that further international availability will be announced “at a later date.” We’re hoping, probably against all odds, that the Philippines will be one of those “additional counties” who will be getting the new iPad next month.

Editor’s note: More likely, it’s still gonna be in June. Unless Howard says otherwise.
