The enterprising folks over at iFixit have gotten their hands on an iPad 2 and are in the process of tearing it down to all its naked glory.
Unlike the the iPad 1, it’s apparent that Apple went all out to shave off all the excess space around the components and reduce the casing material, resulting in the iPad 2′s 33% thinner profile and slight weight reduction. The battery, now rated at a slightly higher 25 watt-hour (versus 24.8 watt-hour of the original iPad), continues to dominate the body cavity.
Looking through the pictures, I cannot help but be impressed at Apple’s industrial design and engineering prowess. I can’t wait to get my hands on one!
