Little noise has been made about the creation of a Philippine Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Bill. But last February 28, the Senate finally approved the bill (Senate Bill No. 50) with a 12-0 vote. Now the bill is on its way to the bicameral conference to be reconciled with the approved version of the House of Representatives (House Bill No. 4667). Now we desperately need a DICT. So there’s been a call for support and forum about the bill before the next Congress Bicameral Meeting.
ICT associations, companies and IT stakeholders are invited to attend the forum on March 14, 3pm at Sofitel. Yes. VERY short notice. And perhaps one of the very few chances given to show the congressmen how much we need this bill to be put into law. If you want to attend the forum, send an email to b.quimson@psia.org.ph. Let them know you want to attend the forum. Leave your contact number too. If you would like to know more about what’s in the proposed merged DICT bill, the information is available on Facebook.
Let us know if you’re attending!
