Jabra Sport Bluetooth Stereo Headset review

When it comes to Bluetooth wireless headgear, Jabra is way up on the pedestal. For most people, Jabra is synonymous with Bluetooth accessories and for good reason. Ever since their first Bluetooth headset, Jabra has been consistently churning out high quality products that are not only critically acclaimed but also sell by the truckload. Their latest creation, the Jabra Sport, continues the trend and is easily one of the best stereo Bluetooth headsets in the market.

Placed inside a sleek, cylindrical hard shell casing, the Jabra Sport is a design marvel. The packaging alone is enough to make anyone give it a second glance, let alone the headset itself. Curvy and sexy, the Jabra Sport has a very non-industrial look and would seem totally out of place compared to other conventionally designed gadgets. I really like how the Jabra Sport is designed, very trendy. The curvy look of the Jabra Sport is not only for aesthetic purposes though. The circular shape of the headset makes it very comfortable to be placed behind the ears while the soft and malleable nature of the unit itself makes it elastic enough that it actually clamps snugly and firmly on my ears.

As the name implies, the Jabra Sport was designed for the active lifestyle and it won’t be a complete review if I don’t use it during my jogging sessions. I’m not much of a jogger, but I’ve jogged enough times to know how cumbersome it is to use a wired headset while in the midst of a running session. I’ve snagged and broken more headphones than I care to remember. The Jabra Sports solves that problem, as having no wires is absolutely liberating. I absolutely like that after the few minutes, the Jabra Sport almost disappears, I can still feel it on my ears but it is in no way distracting or cumbersome.

Most of the necessary functions to control your phone or music player are built into the Jabra Sport. Volume control, next/previous track, an answer/end call button and even an FM activation button. Yes folks, the Jabra Sport has a built-in FM tuner. As far as Bluetooth audio goes, the Jabra Sport performs up-to-par with the more expensive Bluetooth wireless headsets. Sound is solid with all of my tunes carrying a competent mix of bass and treble. Unfortunately, due to the limitations of Bluetooth technology, music output from the Jabra Sport is far from being as spectacular as that of high-end wired headphones. But as with all Jabra wireless headsets, the Sport has a good mic on it and voice calls over it are crystal clear and noise-free.

Another notable feature of the Jabra Sport is that it has the “Multiuse” function which allows it to connect to 2 devices simultaneously. I’ve used it on my BlackBerry Bold 9900 and 4th Generation iPod Touch; music is piped in through my iPod Touch and when I receive a call on my BlackBerry, the music automatically stops and  the call comes through the Jabra Sport, and once I’m done with the call, the music from the iPod Touch resumes.

Bottomline:
The Jabra Sport is in by no means cheap: at the price of Php 5,950, this is one of the more expensive Stereo Bluetooth headsets in the market. But based on its merits, the Jabra Sport is definitely worth the price. Whether you’re a runner who’s looking for a reliable wireless headset or a non-athlete simply wanting a good Bluetooth Stereo headset, you can’t go wrong with the Jabra Sport.

Price: Php 5,950
