It’s here, Lenovo fan boys! The world’s lightest Ultrabook, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon, is finally in the Philippines!
There are actually two models to choose from – a 1.7GHz Core i5-powered ThinkPad X1 Carbon with 128GB SSD storage, and one that runs on a 2GHz Core i7 processor with double the storage, 256GB SSD.
Both comes packed with 4GB of RAM, a 14-inch Premium HD+ (1600×900) LED backlit display, 720p HD camera, Intel HD 4000 Graphics, a touchpad and TrackPoint combo, and Fingerprint reader for added security.
Price?
Prepare yourself ‘cause this is where it gets ugly. SRP of the Core i5 ThinkPad X1 Carbon is Php94,990 while the Core i7 ThinkPad X1 Carbon tips the pricing scales at Php116,990. Yikes!
So not only is the ThinkPad X1 Carbon the world’s lightest Ultrabook. It’s also one of the world’s most expensive Ultrabooks as well.
For Php117K, I’d rather just get myself the top-of-the-line 15-inch Retina Display MacBook Pro. It’s got better specs, is lighter, and most importnat of all, cheaper too, compared to the Core i7 ThinkPad X1 Carbon. Of course, you’d still have to install Windows if that’s what floats your boat, but the extra work is worth it given the savings you’ll be getting in return.
But that’s just me. How about you guys? You think the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon is worth the asking price?

Yup, it’s expensive! …well almost all TPs are expensive since the line is for businesses. And I think Lenovo’s just preserving the TP brand against dilution.
Mother of God. 100k. For something so exceptionally, penultimately ugly.
