Remember that Windows Phone 7.8 update for the Lumia 800 we talked about last week?

Well, we hate to be the ones to burst the bubble, but there won’t be any Windows Phone 7.8 Christmas treats for you Lumia 800 users after all. Nokia, as revealed by Tweakers, reiterated what Microsoft announced already – Windows Phone 7.8 won’t be released until 2013.

So what about that screenshot and previous report? Is it a fake?

Nope. That’s legit. As it turns out, that Windows Phone 7.8 update was being tested on pre-production models. So yeah, it’s the real deal alright, but not the one for general public consumption.

Bummer, right? But hey, 2013’s just a stone’s throw away. So the wait isn’t that agonizing too long now.
