We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but as they say, the truth shall set you free. And in this particular case, the truth might just free you of your aging HTC Desire HD that won’t get treat to some Ice Cream Sandwich delight.
Yep, that’s right, kiddos. That’s no typo there. The HTC Desire HD will no longer get ICS. What started out as simply a rumor that got recently debunked over on Facebook is now official. The HTC Desire HD will NOT be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich.
Here’s the reason HTC gave as to why they decided not to give the Desire HD a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich:
After extensive testing, we’ve determined that the current version of HTC Sense with Android provides customers with the best experience on the HTC Desire HD. When we consider new versions of software, we weigh a number of factors, but ultimately the customer experience on the product is the deciding factor. We apologize for any confusion this change may have caused our customers.
I guess this only means one thing – time to upgrade!
And now’s a pretty good time also with the arrival of the quad-core pack – the HTC One X, Samsung Galaxy S III, and LG Optimus 4X – and a bunch of affordable Ice Cream goodies from various phone makers. If I were to upgrade, it’s a toss up for me between the One X and the Galaxy S III. How ‘about you guys? What’s at the top of your upgrade list?
