I wonder if anyone has ever studied the “downloading” counter-culture–the people who watch a lot of TV shows by downloading them through torrents. How big is this group? What’s their typical socio-economic profile? What do they watch? (I’m guessing “Game of Thrones.”) And do they still watch regular TV?
I ask because this group must be pretty bummed out lately, what with the US TV season having ended, and nothing much else going on (save for “Drop Dead Diva” for the gals). It’ll be three more months before “Dexter,” and the next season of “Game of Thrones” won’t be ’til next year.
In which case perhaps I can recommend “Continuum,” which is a new sci-fi series about revolution in a dystopic future… and of course there’s the latest season of the always hilarious “Futurama.” And “True Blood” is back.
Er, not that I download anything (whistling…)… I’m just saying… I mean, everyone knows that torrents are the spawn of Satan himself… and that, uh, people who download torrents are cursed to turn into wart-infested toads… and… Hey, so, uh, congrats on your latest Cannes award!
