Another one bites the dust, but this time around, it’s not via a court order. This one’s voluntary.
BTJunkie has opted to cease operations after nearly 7 whole years of serving the torrent-addicted community, possibly out of fear they might suffer the same fate as Kim Dotcom and the late MegaUpload.
Will they be missed?
Surely.
Will they be the last to close down in the post-MegaUpload era?
I doubt it, even if SOPA’s been put on ice already in the US. Remember, MegaUpload was shut down despite SOPA not yet being enacted into law. So who’s to say the US government won’t go after other file sharing and similar sites such as BTJunkie who they deem as online pirates.
As adage goes, “the only constant thing in life is change.”
And I guess it’s now time to accept the change – whether we like it or not – that’s happening in the online file sharing scene.
