Samsung Galaxy Grand is the 5-inch sibling of the Galaxy S III, Note 2

If the Galaxy Note 2 is the big brother of the Galaxy S III, then the newly announced Samsung Galaxy Grand is probably the middle-child of the two.

Sporting a 5-inch display, the Grand is definitely bigger than the S III but not quite as grand as the Note 2.

But don’t take its size, name and look as an assurance it’s as good or even better than its two popular Galaxy siblings. It’s not. This new Galaxy doesn’t rock a Super AMOLED display and, unlike the S III and Note 2, only runs on a 1.2GHz dual-core processor (vs a quad-core processor).

On a good note, though, this too comes equipped with a handy 8-megapixel AF main cam (with flash) ‘round the back, a 2-megapixel HD cam on the front, 1GB of RAM, a juicy 2100mAh battery (just like the S III), and runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean right out of the box.

And get this, this’ll be available in two variants – a single SIM version, known as the I9080, and as a dual SIM treat too, I9082.

That’s as good as it gets for now though. Still no word on pricing and when and where this Galaxy 5-incher is headed to, but rest assured, we’ve got this baby on our radar already.
