Ok, before you Galaxy S owners hurl any violent reactions to this post (and we can’t blame you if you will) this bit of news is yet to be confirmed.
With that out of the way, let’s move on to the big story. It looks like the Samsung Galaxy S won’t, after all, get Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Instead, it will just get a value pack update in lieu of Android 4.0.
In GSMArena’s words:
The value pack update is said to improve the user experience by bringing some of the ICS features to the Gingerbread ROM. Better web browsing, multitasking and new widgets were explicitly mentioned, but there’s no saying if other apps will be updated as well.
Again, this isn’t official yet. Take this bit of news with a grain of salt. But if true, I guess this is a reasonable trade-off if indeed the Galaxy S can’t handle Ice Cream Sandwich.
Hopefully, we’ll know soon.
