First things first, this new achievement isn’t actually the number of units sold. This is just the number of Galaxy S2 units shipped out to operators and retail channels. That said, 5 million Samsung Galaxy S2 units moved in 85 days is still an impressive feat ‘cause we can’t imagine how they’d be able to move that many Galaxy S2 smartphones out the door if the demand wasn’t there.
Its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S, managed to set a record and hit the 10 million mark last year. At the rate the Galaxy S2 is going, it’s bound to surpass that mark clearly before 2011 comes to a close.
