It looks like Siri’s coming to the iPad. Well, we’re not quite sure yet if it’s the whole Siri package or not, but at the very least there should be some semblance of it as 9to5Mac has found some interesting clues as to what’s coming to the iPad via iOS 5.1 courtesy of the firmware’s latest beta release.
A new menu item was discovered in the Keyboard Settings of the iPad hinting at Siri’s possible arrival on the iPhone’s more sizable iOS sibling. The new menu item is for text dictation, which, as you all prolly know by now, is just one of the many things Siri can do for iPhone 4S users.
And if reports are true, 4G iPod touch users also have a reason to get excited about iOS 5.1 as this menu item was also found on Retina Display-equipped iPod touch models.
How about the iPhone 4?
We don’t know yet, but if it’s coming to the 4G iPod touch, I don’t see any reason why it won’t be made available on the iPhone 4S‘ predecessor.
But then again, this is just a beta release, and just like with patents, it’s no guarantee. This new feature could still get cut from the final version. Now, if this is still present in the GM release of iOS 5.1, then the chances of it becoming available to the general iPad and iPod touch using public looks more favorable.
Anyway, we’ll talk more about this as this story continues to develop.
