Apple’s got one and so does Android. And now, SMART’s got one too.
What are we talking about?
Unless you’ve been living high up in the mountains and unplugged from the world of tech for the last couple of years, your guess is probably spot on. We’re talking about none other than an app store.
If Apple slapped the no-nonsense-direct-to-the-point App Store name for theirs and Android’s now calling theirs Google Play Store, SMART’s branded theirs as SMART Apps.
So what you can you download from SMART Apps?
Understandably, there are no iPhone apps here, even though you can search for and select iPhone as your device via the web storefront.
Symbian, Java and Android apps are what they offer, though it’s still not an assurance that you’ll find one for your device. That’s what the Select Phone feature is for. I tried it out just to see what I can find compatible with my HTC Sensation but, alas, my search ended in vain.
My guess is that SMART Apps is primarily aimed at those with a Symbian or Java-enabled smartphone. Hence, the scarcity in Android apps.
On a good note, though, all of the apps here are free, which should be great news for those who don’t want to spend a buck on any app or game.
Hop on over here to browse SMART Apps on your desktop/laptop to see what’s available for your handset, or here if you’re on the road and using your mobile phone to view this post.
