FINALLY! After a seemingly never-ending wait, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Gingerbread update is now finally available. Well, at least it should be according to Phandroid, but if you haven’t received any notification yet, you can download it direct from Sony Ericsson via the PC Companion software (Windows only).
Sony Ericsson received quite some heavy criticism not so long ago when they announced their premier Android phone wasn’t getting upgraded past Android 2.1. They later on backtracked and revealed they’ve decided to roll out an Android 2.3 update for the X10. And as proof they won’t be making yet another u-turn, they’ve finally released the much-anticipated Xperia X10 Gingerbread update.
Question is, how many are still using the Xperia X10? With the arrival of the sexy Xperia Arc and the impressive Samsung Galaxy S2, we certainly wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of X10 users opted to just go down the handset upgrade route instead of waiting for the X10 Gingerbread update. But hey, for you loyalists out there, our news for today should be welcome treat for you guys .

I wonder if Sony Ericsson will finally release an update for X8.
@dementia: Last we heard, they don’t have any plans of releasing a Gingerbread update for the X8.
