Sony Mobile: No Jelly Bean for Xperia arc S, mini pro

We’re not huge fans of Mondays. I’m sure most of you aren’t too. That’s probably why we choose to announce most of our contests on Mondays so as to spread some cheer.

Plus it’s raining too. Rainy days and Mondays always get us down.

Unfortunately we got bad news for some of you. Yes, you, you Xperia arc S and/or mini pro user you.

Sony Mobile UK Product Manager John Cooper has confirmed over on Facebook that both the Xperia arc s and the Xperia mini pro won’t be getting the Android Jelly Bean update. Given the arc S was the flagship of its batch, it’s not looking good either for the rest of the 2011 Xperia pack.

So which Sony (Ericsson) are fortunate enough to have made it to the Jelly Bean update shortlist?

Well, that’s probably the silver lining here, if you can call it that. He didn’t reveal any, putting everyone on even ground.

In all likelihood, though, the Xperia S and Xperia ion will probably be among the select 2012 Xperia ‘droids that’ll get upgraded beyond Ice Cream Sandwich.

Meaning, if you own a 2011 Xperia phone and want to enjoy Jelly Bean, now’s a good time as any to upgrade to one of the newer Sony Mobile ‘droids out now.

I think the lay down on this is the all have physical buttons. Being that one of the feature of jelly bean is to have a drag feature on a capacitive home button while locked (not entirely sure) but i think that pose as a major set back for updates to 4.1.1 jelly bean update :( sad to see some sony ericsson products were left behind but there is not much to lose since they all have (some have) single core processors.
