Like Sony Mobile but prefer a dual SIM ‘droid?
Well, if you’re willing to wait for a couple of months, you might just be treated to one with the arrival of the Xperia tipo.
That is, of course, if the Xperia tipo they’ll be releasing in the Philippines is the dual SIM variant. But if not, this new Xperia should still be worth looking forward to, particularly for those looking for an Ice Cream Sandwich-running ‘droid that’s easy on the pocket.
Sony Mobile Philippines disclosed the good news over on Facebook:
The Xperia tipo is designed to be elegantly simple in its design and very easy to use. It is also one of the first phones that allows you to calibrate your data consumption to make sure that you won’t go over your mobile surf plans. This one’s coming out in two months.
Depending on when you start counting, two months is either late September or early October.
The Xperia tipo, just to refresh your memory, sports a 3.2-inch touchscreen, a 3.2-megapixel cam, Bluetooth, WiFi, HSPA connectivity, an 800MHz processor with 512MB RAM, 2.9GB onboard storage, and runs on Ice Cream Sandwich right out of the box.
No idea yet on how much it’ll cost, but just by looking at its specs alone, I’m pretty sure this one will surpass the Xperia neo L as the most affordable Ice Cream Sandwich-powered ‘droid in the Xperia family.
Anyway, we’ll have more on this Xperia ICS ‘droid once we get more info about its local availability.
