Security, as far as mobile phones go back in the day, meant just keeping your phone from being stolen.
Today, it’s more than that. Security on mobile phones is now almost akin to security on your PC, where malware are the leading culprits.
Now, can you guess which one among today’s four most popular mobile platforms – iOS, BlackBerry, Android, Windows Phone – is the most secure, and on the other end of the spectrum, which one’s the least secure?
If you guessed Android is the least, you’re right on the money. In a survey done by Trend Micro with independent analysts, Android was adjudged as the least secure mobile OS, which really shouldn’t come as a surprise given they’ve made it to the headlines more than a couple of times already because of malware problems.
Which one’s the most secure? iOS?
Close, but not quite. BlackBerry’s the winner here, and just like Android, shouldn’t be much of a shocker given how RIM prides itself for its security.
But then again, with the BlackBerry App World only having a fraction of apps to offer compared to the Android Market…er…Google Play, they’ve really got less potential threats to deal with.
Nonetheless, kudos still goes out to RIM for keeping BlackBerry secure amidst the rising threats.
Now, if only they could translate their success here to better sales…
