As portable activity trackers becomes the rage, manufacturers are tasked with the burden of distinguishing themselves from their competitors. While most of the activity trackers on the CES show floor can hardly differentiate themselves from each other, the whimsically colourful geopalz pedometer has a twist that is almost a stroke of pure genius. The geopalz is basically just a pedometer but with an added twist that it can be easily used as a family oriented health tracker. The example I was given that for a family of three kids, the dad can buy a geopalz for each of the family member than assign each of the pedometer into the iOS app. From the app, the dad can then see and monitor how active his kids and wife are. This can lead to a few benefits where the dad can easily see if his kids are having enough outdoor activity. There are also a bunch of exclusive games that makes use of the geopalz pedometer. Sort of like augmented reality games for the whole family which has the added benefit of making everyone more active and subsequently, more healthy. As a dad with two kids, my interest has been piqued.

I’d really like to know more about this though… Interesting concept!
