It’s a rumor no more.
The iPhone Dev Team has just rolled out its newest jailbreak tools – redsn0w 0.9.6RC9 and PwnageTool 4.3. And the best part is, both are untethered.
For those wondering what’s the difference between these two untethered jailbreak tools, PwnageTool is the one recommended for those who rely on an unlock (read: that means you guys who bought your iPhone from Globe) while redsn0w can be used by those who have an open-line iPhone units. PwnageTool is also only available for Mac OS X. Redsn0w, meanwhile, comes in two variants – one for Windows, another for Mac OS X.
This pair of untethered iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak tools is compatible with the iPhone 3G S, iPhone 4, 3G/4G iPod touch, and 1G iPad. No iPad 2 support yet, but don’t worry, it’s coming. And we’re pretty sure it’ll be out by the time the iPad 2 officially hits the local market.
A small note though for iPhone users. While PwnageTool 4.3 can successfully retain the old baseband of your iPhone, ultransow 1.2 doesn’t work on iOS 4.3.1. Needless to say, if you rely on an unlock, it’s best not to upgrade to iOS 4.3.1 yet until the new ultrans0w iPhone unlock is released.
