If you’ve got a soft spot for all things shiny, flawless and new, turn away now ‘cause this will get ugly in a jiff. In an attempt to prove which of the today’s most popular and expensive smartphones is the toughest, Android Authority is pitting the newly released iPhone 5 against Samsung’s might Superphone, the Galaxy S III, in a good ol’ fashioned real-world drop-test.
And by real-world, this is happening in the streets of Hong Kong, where the pavement can inflict maximum damage on this two bad boys, and the drop heights try to replicate the situations when most users will drop their phones – pocket height, chest height, and ear height.
And so without further ado, check out the carnage below:
The winner? The iPhone 5!
Don’t get me wrong, the iPhone 5 sustained its fair share of damage, but the Galaxy S III looked very very pitiful next to the newest iPhone after all the dropping was done and over with. So yeah, I still would invest in a good iPhone 5 case if I were you.

It seems that the iPhone 5 was created more durably. Looking forward to seeing more of these tests even though I cringe when they deliberately break these phones!
