WD TV Live media player out now, Ready to serve Geek Couch Potatoes all over

Planning to set-up your own digital home entertainment system to wow your relatives this coming holidays? Then Western Digital’s newest offering is just for you – the WD TV Live.

This pint-sized black box hooks up to your TV via HDMI so that you can enjoy your vast collection of movies on the big screen in full 1080p HD glory. And thanks to WiFi support, you can likewise view content straight off the web or any of your network-connected devices with the WD TV Live.

Don’t have WiFi at home? No problem. There’s an Ethernet port at the back of this baby so you can hook this up to the ā€˜net the old fashioned way.

So, what’s the diff between this and Western Digital’s other media player, the WD TV Live Hub?

The WD TV Live Hub comes with a 1TB preinstalled. This one doesn’t come with any built-in storage.

That may sound like a bad thing, but since this also comes with a USB 2.0 port, you can freely attach any external storage device of your choice to the WD TV Live, a great option for those who already have an external HDD to call their own or plan to source one at a cheaper price.

And best of all, since there’s no onboard HDD here, this one’s understandably more affordable than the WD TV Live Hub.

SRP of the WD TV Live is Php5,490.

It’s not exactly dirt cheap, but given what this baby’s got to offer, that’s a pretty reasonable asking price in my opinion.
