There were hundreds who waited in line. And scalpers. AppleInsider notes that the scalpers were adding on US$30 to the price (which starts at $568 for the Wi-Fi 16GB model).
How eager were the Chinese to get their hands on the iPad 2? Some began camping out in front of the stores as early as 5pm of the previous day.
And it seems that the white iPad 2 is more popular than the black. (I wonder what our local stats are. Howard?)
Within the day, iPad 2 units at the Apple’s online store in China sold out. The site then promised units in two weeks time or something like that.
Yup, the world’s most populous nation wants iPad 2s. Lots of them. So that’s yet another reason why we’re in for an iPad 2 drought.
